Polsinelli Strengthens Its Intellectual Property Department, Adding a Group of Recognized IP Litigators in Silicon Valley and Naming a New Office Managing Partner

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 18, 2017 — (PRNewswire) —  Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has expanded its national Intellectual Property Department with the addition of five new attorneys, Lucas Dahlin, Barrington Dyer, Nitin Gambhir, Teri H.P. Nguyen and Fabio Marino. The group of IP litigators builds on the firm's west coast momentum and expands the firm's capabilities in Silicon Valley.

Marino, a well-known IP trial lawyer with more than two decades of experience joins Polsinelli as Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Department, Chair of the IP Litigation Practice Group and will lead the firm's Silicon Valley team as Office Managing Partner. Chambers USA calls him "one of the go-to names in the business" who is admired for "his courtroom presence and impressive skills as a patent litigator."

Marino tries high-stakes intellectual property cases across the country, with an emphasis on computer-related technologies. He has experience in a variety of technology areas including computer networks, telecommunications, software engineering, computer architecture, 3D graphics and animation, medical imaging and artificial intelligence, to name a few. Marino handles complex litigation matters such as patent infringement, trade secrets misappropriation, copyright theft, breach of contract and trademark infringement both at the trial level and on appeal.

As shareholder, Dyer will focus his practice on IP litigation and counseling, and has experience representing clients in a variety of high-tech industries such as computer networking devices, smartphones and tablets, computer software and internet-related technologies. He has represented clients in patent disputes in federal courts and before the United States International Trade Commission. Dyer has also litigated patent validity before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in inter partes review proceedings. Prior to entering the legal field, Dyer was a developer for a media technology company, creating video-on-demand content delivery and management systems for cable providers. His background is in electrical engineering and computer science.

Gambhir's roots run deep in the start-up and high-tech industries, and he focuses his practice on a variety of IP matters, including patent infringement and trade secret litigation, strategy and counseling. He has a special emphasis on computer-related technologies, and has represented clients in a broad range of technologies, including computer networking, telecommunications, memory controllers, medical imaging, sensor technology, entertainment and internet-related systems. Prior to practicing law, Gambhir co-founded multiple start-ups in the internet-related technology space.

Nguyen brings experience practicing IP matters in federal court and state court. She focuses on IP litigation matters, complex commercial litigation and unfair business competition litigation and patent damages. She formerly clerked for the Honorable Steven A. Brick of the Alameda County Superior Court's complex litigation department, and prior to that, was an extern to the Honorable Justice Mark B. Simons of the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District. Nguyen is a consultant with the Legal Writing and Research/Moot Court program at the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where she advises law students on effective oral advocacy involving complex legal issues. She is also a coach for UC Hasting's constitutional law and federal evidence appellate advocacy moot court teams.

Dahlin focuses his practice on IP litigation matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. He has experience in federal district court actions, inter partes reviews before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO and appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit He works with clients on strategy and positioning, including commercialization, licensing arrangements and alternative dispute resolution.
