OGC invites you to its ‘Mixed Reality to the Edge’ Workshop this April in Tampa, FL

Visionary experts from Defense, Utilities, First Responders, and more will lead panels concerning the automation of workflows that bring 3D/4D geospatial content to users at ‘the edge’

26 February 2019: The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites you to its ‘Mixed Reality to the Edge’ Workshop at  SOFWERX in Tampa, FL, on April 30, 2019.

As part of OGC’s  ‘Mixed Reality to the Edge’ Concept Development Study (CDS), the workshop will feature Keynote speakers and three panels in which visionary experts from Defense, Utilities, First Responders, and more will provide short position statements and lead discussion on three main topics:

The CDS and workshop aim to investigate requirements and current and future solutions involved in the automation of workflows that curate, discover, process, integrate, and publish (disseminate) 3D/4D geospatial content to users at ‘the edge.’ The results of the workshop presentations and discussions will be integrated with the responses to the request for information and documented in an OGC Engineering Report that will be available for public distribution.

The volume and variety of spatial and temporal data sources are increasing exponentially. These sources include machine-generated data, video, photos, point cloud, sensor data, user-generated content, and traditional photogrammetric sources. The ability to find, process, integrate, analyze, and visualize this content is critical to many information communities, including disaster and emergency management, earth systems modelling, mission planning, fire-fighting logistics, and more. There is a critical requirement to provide curated and 3D/4D content - potentially fused and/or integrated from multiple sources - to mobile and field users on handheld devices.

This Workshop is being hosted by  SOFWERX, a non-profit, neutral facilitation platform accelerating delivery of innovative capabilities to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and facilitating capability refinement through exploration, experimentation and assessment of promising technology from industry, academia, labs, and non-traditional solution providers.

About OGC

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international consortium of more than 525 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards. OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT. OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.
