June 06, 2019 -- HCL Technologies, a leading global technology company, recently hosted DFX INSIGHTS 2019, an annual DFMPro User Conference in Detroit, Michigan. The theme of the conference was “Design for Excellence (DfX) Focus: A Holistic Strategy to Improve Design Quality, Reduce Costs & Shorten Time-to-Market.”
The one-day event focused on the DFMPro, powered by HCL’s DFX solution framework that provides a scalable knowledge environment, which helps organizations achieve excellence in design processes and improve productivity by eliminating rework. The event was billed as one that connects industry leading product design experts, technologists, and thought leaders. Attendees from industries including automotive, aerospace & defense, medical, industrial, and electronics gathered to discuss their experiences and learn best practices of ‘Design for Excellence’ strategy.
The DFMPro customer speakers – who included speakers from a European wind turbine manufacturer, a US-based Aerospace & Defense company, a US-based medical equipment manufacturer, a global consumer electronics company, and a US-based auto manufacturer-- all described the value they received from using DFMPro within their companies. All noted the usefulness in that the software enabled them to automate the design review process, drastically reducing review time and improving the overall design quality.
HCL also showcased new features and functionalities introduced in DFMPro including a new costing add-on, user interface, and a DFX analytics platform. The cost add-on provides early cost visibility to design engineers from when designs are getting created. The intuitive feedback helps design engineers focus on top factors that drive the cost and evaluate various alternatives quickly. DFX Analytics enables engineering executives to develop a more collaborative and data-driven DFX culture in their organization. The dashboarding capability of analytics helps various stakeholders from business to get better visibility and traceability design quality and program level performance.
