WASHINGTON, Oct. 22, 2019 — (PRNewswire) —

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- International Lidar Mapping Forum and LIDAR Magazine now accepting nominations for the prestigious Lidar Leader Awards.

The 2020 Lidar Leader Awards will recognize excellence in and contribution to the field of lidar in the following distinct categories:

  • Outstanding Personal Achievement in Lidar
  • Outstanding Team Achievement in Lidar (2-99 members)
  • Outstanding Enterprise Achievement in Lidar (Groups of 100+)
  • Outstanding Innovation in Lidar
  • Outstanding University Achievement in Lidar

"As organizers of ILMF, we're constantly amazed by the brilliance and dedication of professionals and academics in the lidar community, and we look forward to recognizing some of the stand-outs each year," says Lisa Murray, Group Director at Diversified Communications. "Members of the lidar community are very supportive of each other and it shows through the excitement for and participation in these annual awards."

Geospatial professionals are encouraged to nominate their colleagues and their teams for Outstanding Personal Achievement in Lidar, Outstanding Team Achievement in Lidar, Outstanding Enterprise Achievement in Lidar, and Outstanding Innovation in Lidar categories. Winners of these categories are determined by the ILMF Advisory Board after the nomination period has closed.

Winners of the Outstanding University Achievement in Lidar, which recognizes three categories including Most Commercially Feasible, Most Innovative Use of Lidar, and People's Choice are determined by a University Lightning Round session taking place as part of the ILMF 2020 program. During the University Lightning Round, participants give a brief presentation of their work to a panel of judges and audience of event attendees. Academics are encouraged to submit their nomination for consideration to present as part of the University Lightning Round.

Stewart Walker, managing editor of LIDAR Magazine commented, "The Lidar Leader Awards have been an undoubted success. We've received almost 100 nominations each year. The introduction of the two new categories, Outstanding Innovation and Outstanding University Achievement, generated considerable excitement. As I travel around and see what the sensor and component suppliers, the system integrators and the myriad of end users are doing, and I enjoy the mixing of engineers, scientists, and practitioners at conferences, I feel that LIDAR Magazine is right to work with Diversified Communications to recognize some of the visionaries who are enabling our industry to advance at remarkable speed."

The nomination period for the third edition of the annual Lidar Leader Awards runs through December 13, 2019. All winners will be announced during a brief awards ceremony held at International Lidar Mapping Forum taking place in Washington, DC from March 23-25.
