European Space Imaging partner, Maxar, has collected new high-resolution satellite imagery over the past week (January 3-10) that helps to visually convey the magnitude and intensity of the ongoing fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces over the eastern Ukrainian towns of Soledar and Bakhmut. As media sources are reporting today that Russian-backed mercenary groups have recently seized Soledar, this new satellite imagery reveals thousands of bomb craters in fields and along roads in and around the two towns; moreover, hundreds of homes, schools and buildings have been destroyed from the month’s long battles and artillery exchanges. In the link provided below, you can download a gallery of our satellite images that focus on Soledar and eastern Bakhmut—comparing the area from last summer (August, 2022) with the recent imagery.
