Blue Ridge Numerics Helps Design Engineers Solve Flow and Thermal Problems in Any Economic Climate

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 04, 2009 -- Blue Ridge Numerics, Inc. today announced a new CFdesign® implementation program in North America tailored for companies that need to drive engineering innovation in this tough economic climate, while facing strict CAPEX (capital expenditure) controls. The program ensures companies can tap into the value of upfront CFD and digital prototyping to solve their flow and thermal design challenges at the moment they need it most. The implementation program includes two phases: solution development, which solves immediate design needs through customized project-based services; and technology transfer, which enables customers to leverage the knowledge gained in the solution development phase to permanently integrate CFdesign into their product development workflow.

Phase One: Solution Development

During the first phase of implementation, the Blue Ridge Numerics engineering services team works closely with the customer to document their immediate project requirements, current CAD/CAE environment, and routine product development process. The engineering services team then uses CFdesign to achieve the customer's project-specific design objectives. The entire process typically takes no more than 10 business days and produces the engineering and business results companies need to make informed design modifications early in their product development process, helping to reduce project costs and time to market.

"Our team of veteran engineers at Blue Ridge Numerics has the CAD skills, capability, and real-world industry experience needed to partner with our customers and make optimized design decisions within compressed development cycles," said Jason Pfeiffer, vice president of engineering, Blue Ridge Numerics. "We are here to support our customers beyond just using our software by helping them through any design challenges, no matter their industry, application, or CAD system. We realize the constraints that engineering teams are facing today, so we are committed to work with them to determine the optimal solution for their needs."

Phase Two: Technology Transfer

As additional funding and resources become available, customers can use the results produced in phase one to justify an in-house implementation of CFdesign. When customers are ready to enter phase two, the technical knowledge gained during the solution development phase is transferred to the company's engineering team. Instead of a one-size-fits-all training class, Blue Ridge Numerics engineers create a customized technology transfer session to train the customer's engineering team to use CFdesign as a part of their unique process, taking into account their specific design environment and workflow.

The Blue Ridge Numerics customized implementation approach reduces risk for CFdesign customers and increases overall ROI, which is essential in today's economic climate.
