Cadence CEO Lip-Bu Tan Joins the EDA Consortium Board of Directors

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—February 11, 2009— The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Consortium announced today that it has appointed Cadence president and CEO Lip-Bu Tan to its board of directors to serve the organization through the spring of 2010.

Cadence has been an active member of the EDA Consortium since 1988 and its employees have led important EDA Consortium initiatives on topics such as export controls and software piracy. The appointment of Lip-Bu Tan marks the return of Cadence to the EDA Consortium board.

Lip-Bu Tan, 49, has been a member of Cadence's board of directors since 2004, and serves as a member of the finance and technology committees of the board. He continues to serve as chairman of Walden International, a venture capital firm he founded in 1987. Tan received an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of San Francisco, and a B.S. from Nanyang University in Singapore.
