Wessling, Germany, March 2009 - OPEN MIND Technologies AG will present hyperDENT® and hyperMILL® software for restorative dental components at IDS in Cologne, Germany, from March 24-28. IDS is the largest gathering of dental professionals seeking modern solutions to help advance their busineses. These software systems provide 3-axis through 5-axis automated machining solutions for this dynamically growing industry.

OPEN MIND has many years of experience providing machining solutions for the dental industry in materials including zirconia oxide, plastics and titanium. hyperDENT is a new product, based on this history, dedicated specifically for dental laboratories. Changes in the dental CAD/CAM market request "open" systems where the image scanner, CAD software, CAM software, machine tool, and raw materials may be purchased as a bundle or separately. These systems provide the user best-in-breed technology options and at favorable costs. In the spirit of the open technology concept, OPEN MIND has confirmed the import of data from numerous scanners and dental CAD software, as well as the export to many milling machines.

hyperDENT is applied to family of parts such as bridges, crowns and copings. It has functions including a wizard-oriented user interface, undercut analysis, automatic identification of margin or preparation line, stock management, simple placement of support connectors, and use of prepared machining templates. Templates are available for different materials and different machine tool concepts. Without having the overhead of a traditional CAM software, hyperDENT can also provide users with the ability to edit and customize templates to meet their particular situations. This task is often provided through consulting services by other CAM systems. hyperMILL is OPEN MIND's flagship product and can be applied to these parts and also implant abutments, bridge link arms, other dental components, and a very broad range of applications in other industries.

The OPEN MIND booth will have three live machining demonstrations, with machines from Agie Charmilles (Mikron), KaVo Everest, and Cybaman.
