Shotgun Software To Host SIGGRAPH 2009 Event

Pipeline Presentation Will Feature Speakers from Digital Domain and Zoic Studios

Shotgun Software is hosting a user group at SIGGRAPH 2009 featuring guests from Digital Domain and Zoic Studios. Shotgun Software develops Shotgun, a project management and collaboration system for the animation, games and visual effects markets. The pipeline presentation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 1:30-3:30PM in room Blaine Kern C at the Convention Center Marriott, New Orleans.

The event is open to all SIGGRAPH attendees; please RSVP to register at http://www.shotgunsoftware.com/rsvp

Ryan Mayeda of Digital Domain and Mike Romey of Zoic Studios will be guest speakers. Shotgun Software founders will also be on hand to demonstrate new features and present details about their development roadmap.

“Shotgun has made us vastly more efficient, studio-wide, over the past two years,” said Ryan Mayeda, Technology Projects Manager, Digital Domain. “Having such a robust and user-friendly foundation allows us to streamline and integrate operations across multiple levels of the facility, from helping artists track what they’re working on to tallying production-related statistics that managers can use to budget more effectively. The API is also really flexible and easy to learn, which has made it possible to integrate Shotgun into different parts of our pipeline – like our dailies system – very quickly!”

“Before Shotgun, our pipeline management and business operations required us to maintain and develop multiple systems that were not cohesively bound together,” explained Mike Romey, Pipeline Supervisor, Zoic Studios. “Now that we're leveraging the Shotgun framework, we’ve been able to streamline our pipeline and production tracking tools into an integrated system that everyone uses each day across multiple locations. Our artists are communicating more effectively and our management team has the timely information they need to make informed business decisions."

Shotgun is a flexible and scalable web-based project management system designed specifically for the visual effects, CG feature animation and video game industries, allowing all parties involved in a project instant access to critical data, messaging and real-time project progress. Available in both a hosted (SaaS) and licensed model, large, mid-sized, boutique facilities and independent artists can all benefit from Shotgun-managed pipelines. Shotgun is currently in private beta; companies can learn more and sign up for the beta at www.shotgunsoftware.com.

“We’re looking forward to hosting an informative and lively discussion about pipeline productivity and production tracking,” explained Don Parker, Co-Founder and CEO, Shotgun Software. “Both Digital Domain and Zoic Studios have deployed very effective pipeline solutions for television and film VFX production, but they have focused on different parts of their workflow and have used different approaches and techniques. We think their presentations will provide a great launch pad for an engaging conversation about production tracking and pipeline problem solving.”
