Lectra Exhibits Innovative Apparel 3D Virtual Prototyping Solutions at [TC]2 Cool Zone During SPESA Expo 2010

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 11, 2010 -- Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions dedicated to industries using soft materials -- textiles, leather, industrial fabrics and composite materials -- , is pleased to announce its participation at the [TC]² Cool Zone at SPESA Expo 2010, held May 18-20, 2010 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Lectra will demonstrate its Modaris 3D Fit prototyping and visualization solution in the Cool Zone booth 5749.

In conjunction with Lectra's participation at the Cool Zone, the company announces today its partnership with [TC]², a leading provider for the global soft goods industry specializing in technology development and supply chain improvement. [TC]² is well known for its ability to strategically and tactically align business practices; to implement 3D body scanning and related fit/shape analysis methodologies; and to help companies streamline operations to reduce non-value added activities and processes. Through this partnership, [TC]² will incorporate the skin of Lectra's 3D mannequins into their system for fast generation of 3D avatars out of body-scanned persons.

"Lectra is an industry-leader in software solutions to enable customized products for consumers, which is an ideal fit with our 3D body scanning applications. This is the second generation of the Cool Zone at SPESA Expo, and Lectra is a key contributor in our demonstration of digital fashion and supply chain technologies," comments Dr. Mike Fralix, [TC]²'s President and CEO.

Modaris 3D Fit, the highest-performance virtual 3D prototyping solution, enables pattern makers, designers, developers and sales and marketing teams to simulate and visualize their models in 3D on a customized virtual model, using the color motifs and fabrics (taking into account their mechanical properties) originally created in Lectra's 2D pattern-making solutions. With Modaris 3D Fit, the design and fit of a garment can be verified, along with an entire collection validated, thus reducing the prototyping phase and related costs.

At the Cool Zone, Lectra will explore the integration and power of combining Modaris 3D Fit with their Kaledo® Textile Design solution. This combination is meant for designers, product developers, and sales and marketing teams to test and validate collaboratively a textile (print, knit or weave), a logo and its size and proportions on a 3D garment without requiring numerous physical samples. As a result, it reduces the number of prototypes and style validation costs, while facilitating the decision making process.

In order to address the personalization of 3D models, Lectra's partnership with [TC]² will demonstrate how raw data generated by [TC]²'s 3D Body Scanning Virtual Fashion application creates, in real-time from a real-life body scan, a realistic 3D avatar using the embedded reference meshes (skins), like those provided by Lectra's Modaris 3D Fit. This output (realistic 3D Avatar/model) will then be used live in virtual fashion, weight-loss visualization, and other applications on large screen displays at the Cool Zone booth.

"[TC]² has a successful track record of technological innovation for industries using soft materials," according to Roy Shurling, President of Lectra North America. "We are pleased to enter into this partnership to provide the most state-of-the-art 3D avatars from body-scanned images. In addition to this partnership, Lectra will be showcasing other technological breakthroughs for the apparel industry at SPESA."

At the Cool Zone, Lectra also demonstrates Romans Cad®© 3D Sketch module, part of the Romans Cad®© solution for footwear

In addition to Modaris 3D Fit, Lectra will feature the innovative Romans Cad 3D Sketch -- a unique solution , which enables designers to create textured sketches directly onto a 3D digital last using an electronic pen and graphics tablet. The Romans Cad 3D Sketch module offers designers a very similar experience to traditional hand-drawing. Designers can produce sketches on a 3D last and create a virtual prototype to be used directly by the development center. The result is greater consistency between the sketch and finished model, which drastically reduces development times, while increasing the number of realistic simulations for increased frequency of collection renewal.
