Blue Ridge Numerics Announces CFdesign 2011

Team EnvironmentNew workflow and collaboration functionality equate to getting more of the team involved on every project. CFdesign’s powerful 3D viewer now even works inside your Web browser meaning everyone can evaluate simulation results even when they don’t have a CFdesign license or are not a CFdesign user.

  • Model-centric Workflow- The heart of the CFdesign workflow that allows maximizing screen real estate as well as access to all functions directly on the model. This provides fewer workflow interruptions and improved usability for the entire team.
  • Material Library Management- There are twice as many materials now available in the material library. New materials such as standard internal fans, customer requested fluids and solids as well as a brand new LED material type have been added. Materials can now be searched, filtered and tagged as favorites. Material databases can also be shared with other team members.
  • Next Generation Automatic Mesh Sizing- An extension of the existing powerful automatic mesh sizing, these refinement options improves the mesh automatically in critical areas, such as gaps while providing an instant preview of the surface mesh.
  • Web-based Collaboration- The Customer Portal has been expanded to allow the secure sharing and viewing of results data across the design team as well as those outside the organization with authorization.
  • 3D Viewer in a web browser- The powerful CFdesign 3D Results Viewer has been developed to work inside of a standard web browser as an add-on. This reduces the need for members of the team to have to download and install the 3D Viewer locally as an application which opens the ability for more collaboration and knowledge sharing of the simulation results.

Decision Center - With CFdesign 2011 extracting the data you need to drive design performance just got better. New thermal image camera-like visualization and performance data output options add more muscle to this already robust tool.

  • Results Interpretation & Visualization- Identifying the optimal design just got easier. Filtering and sorting through the mountains of data and presenting them in a very simple way is the heart of the Design Study Environment. Numerous improvements were made to the visualization suite of tools including thermal imaging results view, fan & contact thermal model operating points in the decision center.

About CFdesign

Using CFdesign, engineers are able to make insightful design decisions based on fluid flow and heat transfer simulations while continuing to work in their CAD environment. The simulations begin from within the CAD system using the design study manager, and the native model along with its associative information is opened within the CFdesign design study environment. The unique multi-scenario design study environment in CFdesign 2011 allows engineers to view multiple designs at one time and visually compare the different results. CFdesign enables engineers to obtain accurate simulation results early in the development process where the value of true upfront computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software is greatest.
