The Beck Group’s Betsy del Monte Named to the Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects

DALLAS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 16, 2011 — Betsy del Monte, FAIA, LEED BD+C® has been named to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Fellowship is an honor bestowed by the AIA on architects who have made outstanding contributions to the profession through design excellence, contributions in the field of architectural education, or to the advancement of the profession.

Del Monte currently serves as a Principal and the Director of Sustainability for The Beck Group. Additionally, she is a past chair of the North Texas Green Building Council and past president of AIA Dallas. Del Monte is among those leading the effort to create a green building code for Dallas, as well as promoting the AIA’s 2030 Initiative, which has established a time-based list of goals signing firms must meet toward achieving carbon neutral status.

Del Monte received her Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Architecture degree from Rice University. She is a registered architect in Texas, and NCARB certified, and is a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional. Her experience includes work at architecture firms in Atlanta and Houston, as well as nine years with Philip Johnson and John Burgee in New York as an associate and senior designer. She is also active with community and professional groups such as Urban Land Institute, USGBC, The Real Estate Council and Vision North Texas.
