New Suites Provide Easier Access to Broader Set of Design, Simulation and Visual Communication Software for Entertainment, Building, Infrastructure and Product Design
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 22, 2011 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) unveiled its 2012 portfolio of 3D design, engineering and entertainment software and an expanded family of design suites. The new suites will make it easier for customers across a wide range of industries to adopt and use a broader set of Autodesk’s comprehensive and sophisticated design software. The suites will be available in convenient packages with a range of capabilities that bring together compatible sets of complementary products for entertainment, building, infrastructure, product and visual design that, when used together, help to manage data, workflow and process.
"The new family of Autodesk design and creation suites continues our goal of democratizing design and creativity," said Autodesk president and chief executive officer Carl Bass. "These software suites contain a complete set of tools that work together to help our customers imagine, design and create world-leading products, buildings, infrastructure and blockbuster films."
Autodesk 2012 Design and Creation Suites
The Autodesk family of design and creation suites offer greater access to powerful industry-specific design tools in a convenient package and are more cost-effective and easier to install, deploy, and manage than individual products. Suites also make it easier to standardize on a single suite across multiple departments, which provides greater flexibility to innovate and more easily respond to changing business requirements. In addition, Suites can make it easier for customers to explore new products and technologies, and provide a consistent user experience, making it easier to learn and work with multiple Autodesk tools. The 2012 family of Autodesk Design Suites includes:
- Autodesk Design Suite 2012 combines the power and flexibility of AutoCAD software with intuitive sketching, conceptual design, presentation, and visualization solutions so architects and product designers can create compelling designs, seamlessly share data across all design phases and make visual communication an integral part of the design process. The foundation of the Autodesk Design Suite is AutoCAD 2012 software, which has been updated with new and expanded workflows for conceptual design, model documentation and reality capture.
- Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 is a new, comprehensive and cost-effective design solution for creating compelling products. The suite features Autodesk’s leading design authoring, visualization, and simulation software for manufacturers, including Autodesk Inventor 2012 software, which debuts powerful new features for sustainable product design.
- Autodesk Building Design Suite 2012 and Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2012 offer a comprehensive set of tools to help architects, engineers and planners address their workflow needs, from project design, visualization and simulation to documentation and construction. The Autodesk Building Design Suite features the 2012 Revit products, which offer new collaboration and construction modeling tools and support for point clouds to connect laser scanning directly into the BIM modeling process. The Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite features AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012, which helps speed transportation design with new roadway modeling tools and adds integrated storm and sanitary network analysis capabilities that take full advantage of the Civil 3D model.
- Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 2012 extends the Autodesk 3ds Max or Autodesk Maya workflow with intuitive tools for sculpting and texture painting, real-time character animation and effects. 3ds Max 2012 delivers a new accelerated graphics core, mRigids for dynamic rigid-body simulations in the viewport and sculpting and painting enhancements. Maya 2012 provides enhancements to the viewport offering full-screen effects, editable motion trails for animation editing in the viewport and new simulation options.
