SNC-Lavalin to offer 3D technology training solution to improve plant safety and efficiency

MONTREAL, Feb. 11, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —

MONTREAL, Feb. 11, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) today announced that is has signed an agreement with Honeywell Process Solutions to jointly offer an operator training solution to improve plant safety and efficiency.

Under the agreement, SNC-Lavalin Global Training and Simulation (GTS), a division of SNC-Lavalin Inc., integrates its immersive training simulator, FieldOp3D, to Honeywell's UniSimĀ® Operations training simulation platform to extend simulator training to the field operator. FieldOp3D allows trainees to safely practice essential tasks in a 3D environment. Standard and emergency procedures can also be validated and optimized. The integrated solution was demonstrated at the Honeywell User's Group last June, and is currently displayed at the newly opened Honeywell's Customer Experience Center in Houston.

"Our agreement with Honeywell brings together best-in-class products and services with significant global reach spanning many industries," said Hisham Mahmoud, President, Infrastructure, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "We are already seeing the first signs of success, having deployed five operator training simulators to a major client in the phosphate fertilizer industry in North Africa, and having sold our first integrated FieldOp3D-UniSim solution in North America."

"The agreement with SNC-Lavalin allows us to expand and improve our simulation offering beyond the control room into the field by adding a three-dimensional immersive training environment," said John Roffel, Honeywell Process Solutions' UniSim product director. "The new offering provides a safe learning environment where trainees can navigate a replica of their plant, giving field operators the opportunity to practice tasks essential to their job."
