Microsoft security centers use Visual Fusion software to monitor global operations geospatially

Lansing, MI –March 10, 2010 --   Visual Fusion, visual mashup software from IDV Solutions, helps operators at Microsoft's Global Security Operations Centers (GSOCs) protect company interests around the world, using an application that is the subject of a new case study. The GSOCs dramatically improved their ability to respond to emergencies by visually consolidating data from dozens of systems into a single view on top of Bing Maps. The application enables security workers to act quickly and to immediately track response through integrated workflow via a SharePoint collaboration server.

The case study, just published to the IDV Solutions website, describes how operators use the application to monitor more than 700 company properties, while also checking global newsfeeds for events that may affect the company. The application integrates data from local security staff, live video feeds, alarm system messages, and Web feeds in a map-based view, enabling Microsoft to respond to threats, summon emergency services, and assure worker safety around the world.

“Working with the security team at Microsoft has been a tremendous experience,” explained Ian Clemens, IDV Solutions CTO. “They have hundreds facilities and thousands of people spread all over the world, and keeping all those people and assets safe is a top priority. With Visual Fusion they’ve been able to rapidly develop a visual mashup that consolidates all of their information in the contexts of location and time, empowers their people to seamlessly contribute new content to the application, and facilitates collaboration in real-time across multiple time zones as they respond to particular events.”
